Good N' Random

Here's a List of Neato Quotes I'm starting to compile:

"If logic tells you that life is a meaningless accident, don't give up on life. Give up on logic." -Shira Milgrom

"When God exercises authority He has no need to consult with you or gain your approval. He simply requires you to obey His authority and acknowledge that if this is of God, it is good."-Watchman Nee

"We are only rich through what we give."-Anne-Sophie Swetchine

"In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they're still beautiful." -Alice Walker

"Slaying the dragon of delay is no sport for the short-winded."-Sandra Day O'Conner

"Legalism tells us that our commitment produces God's commitment to us. The grace of God teaches us that God's commitment to us produces our commitment to Him. Our commitment then flows back from gratitude and revelation."-Mike Bickle

"Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance. Great dancers are not great because of their techinque, they are great because of their passion."-Martha Graham

"Friends are the family we choose for ourselves."-Edna Buchanan

Additions are welcome!

Fervency

"...for your love is better than wine....Draw me away with you! We will run after you. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will rejoice and delight in you; we will remember your love more than wine. how right they are to adore you!" Song of Songs

Here are some brief outline highlights from a study on the Song of Songs, which is often seen in 3 interpretations-
1. The historical story of Solomon and his bride,
2.The natural depicting a human love story, a marriage relationship and natural intimacy
3.The allegorical- God as bridegroom and Israel as bride or relationship of Jesus as bridegroom and and corporate Bride of Christ/the church or Jesus and an individual's spiritual development to maturity

The Bride's Fervency:

I. The source of her fervency: the knowledge of God

  • "Affection based" obedience- experiencing "love that is better than wine."
  • "Revelation based" desire for God- revelation knowledge of the splendor of who He is and what He did (i.e. the cross). Phil. 3:8 principle: Love overflows out of the knowledge of His excellence

II. The expression of her fervency: her two-fold life vision

  • "Draw me away/after you"- Cry for deep intimacy with God. (matt. 22:37) becoming a worshipper of God
  • "We will run after You"- Cry for partnership in ministry with Jesus and for community with people (mt.22:40) becoming a servant of people
  • The two Great Commandments and the Great Commission
  • A proper life vision contains both aspects- a worshipper (draw me)and a deliverer (we will run).

We love because He first loved us. We enjoy Him because He first enjoyed us. (john 4:19)

"It is the definition of success. It is the definition of purpose. In the "absolute sense" we succeed, no matter what else happens if we are lovers of God. It is our inheritance to be lovers of God, He simply made us that way."........

"If you have nothing to die for, you have nothing to live for. This is simply how God made the human heart. So much of the human race is dying of boredom right now. So much of the Body of Christ is dying of boredom right now. Because they do not understand we were created to love passionately. It is not just that we should love passionately, we have to in order to function right."

We come to rest in 2 places:

1. Through the finished work of the cross we can rest in forgiveness.

2. There is a rest of intimacy. Augustine (354-430 AD) said, "Man does not rest until he finds his rest in God." There is no rest until we decide the highest purpose of our life in intimacy with God.

Pidgin Style

Here's some of the good news in pidgin... found in "Matthew tell bout Jesus"

Jesus Go By His Guys

Den Jesus eleven guys go Galilee, to da mountian wea Jesus wen tell um fo go. Wen day wen see him ova dea, dey go down an give um plenny love an respeck. But still had guys dat still yet not shua wat stay happening.

Den Jesus go near dem an say, "God wen give me all da power, so now I in charge a everyting all ova da world an inside da sky. So you guys, go all ova da world an teach all da diffren peopos, so dey can learn about me an come my guys. Baptize dem, an dey goin come tight wit my Fadda, an me his Boy, an God's Good an Spesho Spirit. Teach um how fo do everyting dat I went tell you guys fo do. An you know wat? "My name is Emmanuel, as in Emmanuel Kant (the German philosopher), but we are not related" this kind older gentleman said to me in German. He had asked me if my heritage was German (which it is), and so we began to converse. This was all while I was learning to samba.
Samba as in ballroom dance samba. However, with his age and my lack of skill I'm sure our samba was nearer to a slow shuffle. Emmanuel is from Romania. "Here I am," I thought to myself,"speaking German with a Romanian in Hawaii while dancing the Brazillian Samba. This is my life."

The ballroom dancing was a blast and I look forward to learning more. Waltz, swing, salsa, rumba, meringue, cha cha cha.... Not exactly the typical weekend activities, but fun. I had several moments this weekend in which I was simply happy to be alive and appreciative that God has blessed me so. God is good.
